Polls remain intact as postseason looms

Oconomowoc overtook Appleton North for the top spot in Division 1 midway through the season, and the two finished out the Week 8 poll in a virtual tie among the voters. Germantown was the highest riser in D1, leaping to No. 3 after locking up the always-brutal Greater Metro title. Fellow GMC foe Divine Savior Holy Angels hung on at No. 4, while unbeaten Southern Lakes champ Burlington rounded out the top five in the final tally.

Sauk Prairie has amassed the most regular season wins by anyone this year and unsurprisingly retained the top spot it overtook back in Week 6 in Division 2. Luxemburg-Casco remained right behind the Eagles at No. 2, while Madison-area rivals No. 3 McFarland and No. 4 Edgewood played leapfrog yet again this week. Fox Valley Lutheran earned its first top five placement of the season at No. 5.

Division 3's Howards Grove claimed the only wire-to-wire No. 1 team across all four divisions this season, though it wasn't without some tight voting down the stretch. No. 2 Lake Country Lutheran was right on the Tigers' heels, while Fall Creek and Oconto held steady at No. 3 and No. 4 again this week. No. 5 went to newcomer and West Lakeland Conference champion Unity, which at 32-1 harbors the highest win percentage in the entire state.

Speaking of the Lakeland Conference, Central division champion Turtle Lake rounded out the season at No. 1 in Division 4 for the sixth straight week. Holding strong at No. 2 was Three Lakes, which was the lone D4 team to eclipse the 30-win mark this regular season. No. 3 Columbus Catholic and No. 4 Monticello continued their strong play down the stretch, while McDonell re-entered at No. 5, barely edging a surging Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran team in the final poll of 2021.
