Divine Savior Holy Angels, Xavier, Howards Grove, and Athens debut at respective No. 1s in the 2022 WVCA Girls Volleyball Coaches Poll.
DSHA, champions of the prestigious Joust Tournament this past weekend, also earns the top spot in the Division 1 Week 1 poll. Joust runner-up Oconomowoc assumed the No. 2 spot, followed by Appleton North, Hamilton, and Burlington--all also Joust participants.
Speaking of the Joust, Xavier put forth an impressive performance in Mequon en route to the top spot in Division 2. Joust play-in champion Pewaukee was right behind at No. 2, while Fox Valley Lutheran, Kettle Moraine Lutheran, and defending state champion Luxemburg-Casco rounded out the top five.
Howards Grove's Joust silver bracket championship was more than enough to retain the top spot in Division 3, ahead of newfound rival Lake Country Lutheran at No. 2. Randolph jumped into the No. 3 spot, followed by rivals Unity and St. Croix Falls at Nos. 4 and 5.
In a Division 4 that from the outset looks wide open this season, Athens took home the Week 1 No. 1 spot after a fifth place finish at the 40-team Menomonie Sprawl. Monticello enters as No. 2, followed by a trio from north central Wisconsin in Prentice, Columbus Catholic, and Mercer.
